Rebecca Meehan
Rebecca A. Meehan, PhD, is associate professor in the School of Information, Health Informatics program at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Dr. Meehan earned a doctorate in medical sociology and gerontology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. After working in applied research to improve quality of life for patients in hospital and long-term care settings, she took a role as a senior user experience researcher and later a product manager for a global enterprise-level software group. Dr. Meehan brings her experience in software development and applied research to her academic role at Kent State. With a focus on health informatics education, her research involves improving the user experience of health information technology across the care continuum, to improve patient safety and decrease clinician burden. Dr. Meehan has authored many journal articles and served as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. She has presented at national and global conferences as an educator, advocate and researcher in health informatics.
