Olga Kagan, PhD, RN, CIMI, FHIMSS, is an RN with expertise in informatics, administration, education, health policy and research. She teaches at two New York-based universities, contributes to textbooks, mentors nurses, and serves on advisory boards for startup companies. She is a founder of Food Allergy Nursing Interest Professional Group (FANI) and co-founder of Collaborative Healthcare Innovation, Research and Problem Solving (CHIRPS) group. She was recognized for her work with elected officials on legislative initiatives on Capitol Hill and in Nassau County in improving the welfare of vulnerable individuals. Dr. Kagan is also an associate editor for a peer-reviewed nursing journal. Dr. Kagan previously held elected positions at the ANA-NY, the CUNY SPS governing council and the HIMSS NYS chapter Board of Directors. She has been awarded a fellow status at the NYAM for her contributions to the nursing committee and informatics workgroup; at AAAAI for her contributions to the specialty, and at HIMSS where she currently serves on the Nursing Education and Networking Task Force, Innovation Advisory Group and NI Committee. She has been instrumental in initiating the Wellness breaks during the 2023 NI forum. She is past chair of the HIMSS NYS nursing committee where she spearheaded a nursing symposium initiative in 2022. She served a two-year term on the Society of Nurse Scientists Innovators Entrepreneurs and Leaders’ Executive Board of Directors. Dr. Kagan is a recipient of several awards for her contributions to research, leadership, and mentorship, and was featured on the “Outcomes Rocket” podcast.
