Information Sharing and the Path Forward: An Update from the HHS Office of the Inspector General
Description:
The Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS-OIG) works to protect the integrity of Federal healthcare programs as well as the health and welfare of program beneficiaries. As part of its work, HHS-OIG promotes information sharing by enforcing the information blocking statute through imposition of civil money penalties on health IT developers of certified health IT, health information exchanges, and health information networks. Participants will learn about the elements of information blocking and will hear from the regulators about how HHS-OIG will conduct its investigations and enforcement of health IT developers of certified health IT, health information exchanges, and health information networks.
