Title:
Prior Authorization and Data Exchange: Through Policy, Technology, and Implementation
Description:
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently published the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization final rule (CMS-0057-F), delivering on the agency’s promise to advance health information exchange to facilitate appropriate and necessary access to health records for patients, providers, and payers. This rule finalizes new policies to increase data sharing and improve prior authorization processes through policies and technology that help patients remain at the center of their own care.
CMS continues to drive interoperability in the nation’s health system to enable better access to health information, improve data exchange and encourage innovation. During this session, attendees will hear from CMS leadership about new interoperability requirements and how CMS is leading the way by implementing these requirements in its own program. Specifically, attendees will learn how Medicare fee-for-service is taking the forefront to improve prior authorization processes. The second portion of this presentation will include a panel of CMS experts providing further insights on interoperability projects and implementations across the Agency.
